Yeah, we’re screaming. After being stomped on and twisted inside out, our glimmer of hope for new music (or at least SOMETHING music related) from Rihanna is restored.
Rihanna is officially the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show performer.
The show is being sponsored by Apple Music (not Pepsi this time. this hasn’t happened for.. 10 years??!!) and is set to take place on February 12, 2023 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
NFL’s music guy (the head of music. that’s his correct title, we’re just too excited to type properly ok… still processing) Seth Dudowsky mentioned that “[they] are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage,” and that “[she] is a once-in-a-generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career.” Yup. It’s happening, folks.
Dr. Dre even mentioned that “[he] can’t wait to see what Rihanna’s going to do”. We feel you Dr. Dre.
Rihanna announced it herself via her Instagram account with a picture of her (beautiful) tattooed hand holding an official NFL football. (that’s all she really needs to do anyway.. she’s really THAT girl) The caption on Ri Ri’s post? A single period. Did you catch how the NFL literally changed their social media bios to read “National Fenty League.”? HER POWER! HER INFLUENCE!
The current hype COMPLETELY makes sense. Our girl hasn’t released music for 6 years and keeps trolling us when we ask her about it… We get it though, she’s busy being a whole business woman powerhouse boss icon. For a while now, Ri Ri’s focus has been on her businesses — her Fenty Beauty line and Savage X Fenty. (She also trademarked “Fenty Hair”… HMMMMMMMMMM????????) She’s booked and busy. Also, she has a whole child now. We all wish we were A$AP Rocky.

Anyway, Rihanna’s 2023 Super Bowl news has received some harsh words from readers, with some reminding us that she previously refused an offer to perform in the 2019 halftime show because she wanted to stand in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.
So.. does this mean new music is on the way? Why did she say yes this time? Is this just going to be a 15 minute Fenty Beauty ad? So many questions, so little time.
Who else could be performing alongside RIHANNA? Well, we’ll only know once we see it happen. We’ll be tuning in for the halftime show.. will you? Yeah of course you will, it’s Rihanna.
